Legislature to laud ‘Hawaii Five-0’

CBS’ Hawaii Five-0 took the beloved police procedural drama set in the picturesque backyard of Hawaii, and updated the show’s brand appeal with a new generation of fast-paced, high-action, eye-seducing, crime-fighting quartet.

On Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 12-noon in the House Chamber, The State Legislature will honor representatives from CBS, the show’s producers, cast and crew on the global success of Season One.

Trans-Pacific Voyage Bound for Hawaii

Green power will take seven traditional vaka, or canoes, on an epic expedition of re-discovery across 15,000 nautical miles of the Pacific Ocean.

Powered solely by the sun and the wind, the double-hulled, 22-meter vaka will leave their Pacific home countries over the next month and sail to Hawaii via French Polynesia in the wake of their ancestors.

Art at the Capitol Debuts Friday

The Hawaii State Legislature will open its doors for April’s First Friday event with the 3rd Annual “Art at the Capitol,” an opportunity for the public to view over 460 works of art that are a part of the State’s Art in Public Places Collection (APP), meet legislators and talk with local visual artists.

The event will be held on Friday, April 1, 2011 from 5 to 7 p.m., with a short program on the third floor to start at 4:45 p.m.

Hawaii real estate market update

The Hawaii real estate market showed some signs of strength across the different islands, although foreclosures continued to exert increased influence on the housing sector.

In the first tracking period of the New Year, there were nearly two hundred single family properties purchased – an increase of more than eleven percent from the same period a year ago. Similarly, more than two hundred and fifty condo units changed hands during the first month of the year, representing an uptick of slightly less than ten percent from January 2010.
